projects
Friends are active year round with a variety of projects and special events. Here are a few places you can see our Friends' handiwork.
Ironmaster's Manor House
Restoration
The restoration of the Ironmaster's Manor House continues with wall stabilization. Cap stones are placed on the wall tops to prevent more damage.
Park Manager Mark Spurrier receives a matching grant check of $1,200.00 from The Maryland State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution for the restoration work on the Ironmaster's Manor House. Presenting the check are Joanne Baum, Regent of the Frederick Chapter, and Carol Larkin, Maryland State Regent.
Aviary
Here is Ted the Bald Eagle, named after Teddy Roosevelt.
With your support, we provide continual assistance for the wild animals on display at the Manor Area Aviary. Regular feeding and supplies, veterinary care, and support for Aviary volunteers."
The Middletown Overlook
Volunteers Needed
The Middletown Overlook is in Gambrill State Park's High Knob Scenic Area.
Everyone has something to offer the Friends group. The group consists of a wide range of people just like you. Whether you are a thinker or a doer, your help is wanted and needed. For those who love being outdoors, helping with events or special projects around the park is a great way to show support.
